On 3 - 4 October 2017, FTA will convene a two-day Asia Sustainability Symposium entitled 'Promoting Responsible Business Practices in Asian Supply Chains' in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This event will provide a platform for FTA members and non-member companies together with key stakeholders to connect, share good business practices, and define solutions to key challenges of national and regional relevance. It will prioritise the role of businesses and the importance of long-lasting responsible business behaviour including cooperation between states, and the development of public-private partnerships to create long-term momentum for transformational change in the sustainability arena.
Over the two days, experts will lead discussions to advance priority areas for supply chain sustainability such as promoting business integrity, migrant workers and forced labour, environmental challenges, empowerment of women, and the impacts of One Belt One Road on businesses. It will also explore replicable approaches taken by companies with a focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as adherence to the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs).
